Fertilization, Pest Control
Fertilization Programs Balancing Required Nutrients in Your Soil
Infertile soil is one of the leading causes of plant decline. If your plants aren’t doing well and the soil is neither too dry or too wet and you are getting adequate sunlight for the variety of turf or shrubs you are wanting to grow, then the soil is most likely infertile.
We do a soil test to be sure
When you call to get on our fertilization program the first thing we do is take a soil test. Applying fertilizer without taking a soil test is like taking medicine without going to the doctor. Different turf grass varieties require different amounts of nitrogen so it is important to know the difference between varieties and understand what their growth needs are.
All turf and ornamentals will benefit from supplemental fertilization whether you are applying a synthetic fertilizer or using an organic product such as compost. Making sure that fertilization is balanced with your soil’s needs is what is most important.
A healthy lawn will choke out most weeds which is why our first approach is always to look at turf grass health. If weed control is needed we try to put out most weed control when the grass is dormant and then only spot spray as needed when the lawn is actively growing.
Occasionally pests will damage shrubs and turf. Here at Rollin’s Landscape Company we practice IPM (Integrated Pest Management) which means we only apply pesticide if there is a target pest present that is going to cause an unacceptable level of harm if left untreated. We do NOT provide a service where we keep the turf or shrubs blanketed in a chemical just in case a bug shows up.

We use a motorized commercial spreader with the ability to spray at the same time. This makes it possible for us to perform two services in one pass thereby increasing our efficiency and ultimately saving you money.
